Wydad Athletic Club announced today its official contract with the Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio, who will take over the technical leadership of the first team in preparation for the 2026-2027 sports season. This decision comes after intensive negotiations aimed at enhancing technical stability and a clear vision within the club, in line with the great ambitions of the Wydad fans and its illustrious history.
The Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio arrived in Casablanca yesterday, Saturday, to finalize the negotiations with the club officials. This visit was successful after all terms were agreed upon, making Paulo Sergio the coach of Wydad in the upcoming period, during which the team aims to achieve the best results in various championships.
The club’s official statement confirmed that this appointment represents the beginning of a new chapter, based on solid foundations that ensure high competitiveness for the team. Through this contract, Wydad seeks to continue its successful journey and strengthen its position as one of the prominent clubs on the African continent.
It is worth mentioning that Wydad Athletic faced challenges in its negotiations with the Uruguayan coach José Daniel Carreño, as talks stalled due to the latter’s refusal of the penalty clause in his contract. This refusal prompted the club’s management to seek alternatives, eventually settling on Paulo Sergio, who carries great aspirations to lead the team towards winning titles.
