Arsenal Football Club today announced the signing of their head coach Mikel Arteta’s new contract, which ties him to the London club until 2030. This move confirms the great confidence the club places in the young Spanish coach, after he led the team to win the English Premier League title last season, ending a 22-year trophy drought.
With this extension, the 44-year-old Arteta becomes the longest-serving current manager in the English Premier League, solidifying his position as one of the most prominent figures in Arsenal’s history. He will become the third longest-serving manager in the club’s history after the legendary Arsène Wenger and George Allison, should he complete the new contract period.
Arteta expressed his great happiness with this renewal, affirming that the relationship he has built with the club and its fans is exceptional, and what has been achieved so far is just the beginning. He emphasized his pride in leading the Gunners during this special era coinciding with the 140th anniversary of the club’s founding, pointing to the mutual gratitude and respect between him and the club’s devoted supporters.
On their part, club chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke confirmed that Mikel Arteta fully understands Arsenal’s values and embodies them, with a clear vision for the club’s future. They highlighted the coach’s commitment to continue building on the achievements made together, affirming that this step enhances the team’s stability and future aspirations, especially after Arsenal began their title defense campaign with a perfect record before recently losing to Brighton.
