Wydad Athletic Club today mutually terminated the contract of its striker Zakaria Al-Fatehi, opening the door for him to embark on a new professional experience in the Libyan league. This decision came after Al-Fatehi was excluded from the technical staff’s plans under Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio, which prompted him to seek another destination to continue his football career.
Immediately after ending his association with Wydad, Zakaria Al-Fatehi moved to the Libyan club Darnes, a step that reflects his desire to prove himself in a different football environment. His departure from the red team adds to a long list of players who have left the red fortress this season.
With this departure, Zakaria Al-Fatehi becomes the 21st player to leave Wydad Athletic Club recently, a statistic that highlights the significant changes the team is undergoing. The list of departures included prominent names like Abdelali Mohamed, Zouheir Al-Matriji, Hakim Ziyech, Ramiro Faca, in addition to other players, indicating Wydad’s efforts to restructure its squad.
On the other hand, Wydad did not remain idle but strengthened its ranks with many new signings to compensate for those who left. The club signed notable players such as Rachid Ghanimi, Salahuddin Al-Koufi, Jordanian Nizar Al-Rashdan, Yahya Atiyah Allah, as well as Junior Olugbadi and Burkinabe Youssouf Dayo and Silver Kanfola from Congo Brazzaville, in an attempt to reinforce various positions and ensure strong competition for titles.
