Wydad Athletic returned to winning ways with a deserved 2-0 victory over Kawkab Marrakech in the 19th round of the professional league.
This win gave the team a significant morale boost ahead of the highly anticipated derby.
The match started with great enthusiasm from Wydad, as the players showed a clear desire to break their negative results streak.
It took only 25 minutes before the “Maestro” opened the scoring with a brilliantly and precisely executed direct free kick, announcing Wydad’s first goal.
The second goal did not take long to come, as player Hakim Ziyech added the second goal from a penalty before the end of the first half, giving his team a comfortable advantage going into halftime.
In the second half, coach Hammouda Benchrifa made several tactical changes to rest some of the key players in preparation for the upcoming derby match.
