The Wydad Athletic Club is facing a critical situation, as it is now required to provide two billion centimes (equivalent to 20 million Moroccan dirhams) to settle ongoing dispute files and lift the ban on signing new contracts during the upcoming summer transfer window. This situation threatens the stability of the team and limits its ability to strengthen its squad with new players in line with its ambitions for the coming season.
Media reports indicate that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has decided to prevent the red team from signing players due to three contentious files that must be resolved urgently.
Among these files, the case of the Brazilian player Pedrinho stands out as the most complex, requiring the Wydad management to pay a huge amount of one billion and fifty million centimes, representing a large part of the total funds needed to end Wydad’s debt crisis.
Wydad officials are racing against time to find quick solutions to this financial crisis, especially since the team urgently needs to recruit new players capable of making the necessary contribution.
After the inconsistent performance of several players during the current season, there is an intention to part ways with them by the end of the season, which places great importance on lifting the transfer ban to compensate for the shortage and rejuvenate the team. This step is crucial to ensure Wydad’s ability to compete strongly in local and continental championships.
Currently, Wydad occupies fourth place in the professional league ranking, with 43 points, just three points behind the leader, Renaissance Berrechid.
This position in the standings increases the pressure on the club’s management to resolve Wydad’s debt crisis as quickly as possible, to ensure the team’s ability to attract distinguished players who restore its balance and help it regain its natural position among the top Moroccan and Arab clubs.
