The national team arrived this morning, Wednesday, at Salé Rabat Airport, coming from South Africa after playing a strong match against the Lesotho national team as part of the second round of the qualifiers for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. This arrival follows a remarkable performance where the national team solidified its position at the top of Group One.

The match at “Toyota” Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, witnessed the “Lions” win by two goals to nil. Ibrahim Diaz opened the scoring in the 45th minute, and Ezzedine Ounahi added the second goal in the 82nd minute, benefiting from a precise pass by Sofiane Rahimi, securing three points for the national team.

With this victory, the national team raised its tally to a full six points, occupying first place in Group One, having started its campaign with another win against Gabon by two clean goals scored by Noussair Mazraoui and Sofiane Rahimi, confirming its readiness and strength in these qualifiers.

The “Lions” are now preparing for a highly anticipated friendly match scheduled to be held at Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier, awaiting confirmation of the opposing team’s identity, especially after the cancellation of the match that was planned against Ghana. Nayef Aguerd, Marseille defender, missed the trip to South Africa as he preferred to continue training at the Mohammed VI Football Center.
