In a notable political and sporting gesture, Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, openly expressed his support for Lamin Yamal, the young Barcelona player, following his raising of the Palestinian flag during his team’s La Liga title celebrations.
This incident comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and reaffirms the firm stance of the Spanish government regarding the Palestinian cause, as Spain had previously recognized the State of Palestine. He added that Spain, which recognizes the existence of the State of Israel, affirms Palestine’s full right to exist as a sovereign state.
