Moroccan player Soufiane Al-Moden, the star midfielder of Olympic Safi, topped the ideal team of the African Confederation Cup competition for the 2025/2026 season, marking a remarkable individual achievement for both the player and the Abdi team. This selection was made by the specialized football statistics site “SofaScore,” highlighting Al-Moden’s brilliance despite the clear Algerian dominance in the lineup.
Soufiane Al-Moden significantly contributed to Olympic Safi’s historic journey in the CAF Cup, as the team reached the semi-finals in its very first continental appearance. Al-Moden is considered one of the most prominent players of his team, ‘Abdi,’ throughout the season, delivering consistent and outstanding performances that caught the attention of observers, earning him this well-deserved spot in the ideal team, which lacked any other Moroccan player.
On the other hand, the ideal team witnessed an almost complete Algerian dominance, featuring seven Algerian players, four of whom are from USM Alger, the title holders. Additionally, players from CR Belouizdad and Abdelrahim Daghmoum from Al Masry Port Said were included. USM Alger won the Confederation Cup against Egypt’s Zamalek in an exciting match that ended with an aggregate score of 1-1, with the Algerian team crowned after a penalty shootout, explaining the predominance of its players in the ideal team of the CAF Cup this season.
