Media sources revealed today that Mehdi Benatia is close to taking over the position of sporting director at Al-Ittihad Saudi Club, confirming the news reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
According to the information, Al-Ittihad’s management has included Benatia’s name among the top candidates to succeed the Spaniard Ramon Planes, who is preparing to leave the club to move to a new European project.
This development comes as Mehdi Benatia prepares to leave his current position as sporting director of the French club Olympique Marseille at the end of the current season, despite having previously submitted his resignation.
