Al-Ittihad Saudi Club has finalized its position regarding Moroccan coach Walid Rokraki, as press reports revealed today that Rokraki’s name is not seriously considered by the “Dean” administration to lead the first football team, succeeding Portuguese coach Sergio Consesao, who left his position following the end of the last football season.
Although Rokraki’s name had been widely circulated over the past weeks among a long list of coaches nominated to manage Al-Ittihad’s technical staff, the same sources confirmed that the club’s administration did not enter into any official negotiations with him, nor did his file reach advanced stages of study.
Indicators point to the Saudi club moving towards other options to strengthen the technical staff in the coming period.
Al-Ittihad is currently continuing its intense search for a new coach able to lead its ambitious sports project for the upcoming season, especially after the disappointing results the team witnessed under Consesao’s leadership in various competitions.
According to reports, the club’s administration prefers to work away from the spotlight on this sensitive file, with the identity of the new coach to be revealed once all official and contractual procedures are completed.
It is noteworthy that Walid Rokraki’s name was recently linked to several Gulf clubs, benefiting from his distinguished coaching record. However, current data indicates he will likely be excluded from leading Al-Ittihad in the next phase.
The Jeddah-based club hopes to regain its brilliance and achieve championships after a difficult season in which it failed to win any title and settled for fifth place in the Saudi Professional League.
