King Mohammed VI granted a pardon to Senegalese fans who were sentenced for misdemeanors and crimes committed during the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

This gracious royal gesture, embodying the values of mercy and tolerance, was made for humanitarian reasons and in recognition of the deep historical brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal.

The royal pardon reflects the humanitarian dimensions and strong bonds between the two countries. It coincided with the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha, emphasizing the authentic Moroccan values and traditions, foremost among them mercy and compassion.

A statement from the Royal Court affirmed that this royal gesture expresses the depth of brotherhood, friendship, and cooperation, strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and Senegal.

On this occasion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI extends his sincere wishes to His Excellency the Senegalese President Mr. Macky Sall, the authorities, and the brotherly Senegalese people, wishing them progress and prosperity.

The royal pardon of the Senegalese fans confirms Morocco’s position as a leading country in promoting the values of tolerance and international cooperation, especially with the brotherly African countries.
