Raja Athletic Club today leads the race to sign midfielder Amin Al-Sawan from Fath Athletic, amid the green club’s efforts to strengthen its squad before the start of the new football season, with great anticipation from the fans about finalizing this awaited deal. These developments come after the withdrawal of the other two major Moroccan football clubs, Wydad Athletic and Nahdat Berkane, from competing to sign the player, after reviewing the financial demands set by Fath. According to press reports, at the beginning of August, Fath’s management received three official offers to sign Al-Sawan from the three clubs. However, the successive withdrawal of Wydad and then Nahdat Berkane left Raja the sole candidate to finalize Amin Al-Sawan’s transfer.
Negotiations are currently focused between Raja and Fath Athletic officials, where the Casablanca-based team aims to reach a final agreement ensuring Al-Sawan’s addition before the closing of the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Rabat club insists on its financial terms, benefiting from the fact that the player’s contract extends until the end of the next season, giving it strong leverage in negotiations. Leading the negotiations on behalf of Raja are President Jawad Zayyat and Sports Director Rogério Matias, who have requested time to study Fath’s financial demands and respond.
The financial factor remains the main obstacle to completing Amin Al-Sawan’s transfer. There is a clear gap between Raja’s offer and the amount Fath requests to allow the player’s departure. Such financial differences are often the reason for many deals falling through in the world of football, putting the current deal at risk.
While Amin Al-Sawan awaits a final decision on his football future, Raja hopes to strengthen its squad with a player of Al-Sawan’s caliber, who has proven his ability to provide technical addition to the team. Conversely, Fath Athletic seeks to achieve the maximum financial benefit from selling the player’s contract before making the final decision that will determine Al-Sawan’s destination for the next season.
