The Wydad Athletic team was forced to postpone its preparatory camp in the city of Agadir until the 31st of this August due to the congestion in the coastal city. This decision came as Agadir hosts several training camps for other clubs such as Raja Athletic, Maghreb Fes, and Hassania Agadir, which has reduced the availability of training facilities. Wydad Athletic faces a challenge in finding suitable fields for its training sessions, especially with the Adrar Complex closed for maintenance in preparation for hosting the 2030 World Cup matches.
The shortage of available fields caused the Wydad management office to decide to delay the Wydad camp in Agadir until the departure of the Raja Athletic and Maghreb Fes teams from the city. This delay aims to ensure ideal training conditions for the red team before the start of the new season. The Wydad Athletic camp, expected to last ten days, will include two friendly matches to assess player readiness and team cohesion with the new signings before the official competitions begin at the end of next September.
Meanwhile, Wydad Athletic began its series of friendly matches today, Thursday, by facing Ittihad Tanger at the Wellness Complex, starting at six in the evening. These preparatory matches are an essential part of the team’s preparations for the new football season, where the coaching staff seeks to evaluate player levels and implement tactical plans.
In the current summer transfer window, Wydad Athletic has been notably active, signing eight new players to strengthen its squad. These signings include Rachid Ghanimi, Salah Eddine Al-Koufi, Jordanian Nizar Al-Rashdan, Yahya Gibran, Yahya Atiyah Allah, Hamza Jnan Allah, Adel Khloufi, and Ayman Al-Hassouni. These additions aim to strengthen the lineup and provide greater depth to compete in all local and continental championships.
