The Moulay Abdellah Stadium complex in the capital Rabat has entered an advanced stage of preparations, readying to host the second leg of the CAF Champions League final on May 24, which will bring together the Royal Army and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in a highly anticipated match that has gripped the hearts of Moroccan and African fans.
In recent days, the stadium has witnessed intense activity aimed at rehabilitating several facilities, following damage to some equipment after the riots that ensued the “Clasico” match between the Royal Army and Raja Casablanca.
The overseeing authorities are racing against time to prepare the stadium in the best condition before the major continental event.
The ongoing works include replacing damaged seats with new ones, repairing the fence separating the main stand and the northern terrace, in addition to restoring several vital facilities and improving organizational and logistical aspects to ensure hosting a final worthy of the event’s stature.
The Moulay Abdellah Stadium continues to regain its shine as one of the most prominent Moroccan and African stadiums capable of hosting major football events, especially as it will host its second continental final within a few months after hosting the Africa Cup of Nations final last January.
The Royal Army fans place great hopes on this historic final, aiming to exploit the advantages of home ground and crowd support to return to the African victory podium and revive the military team’s continental glory after years of absence from major titles at Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
