The French newspaper “L’Équipe” revealed new and exclusive details regarding the decision of the rising talent Ayoub Bouaddi to represent the Moroccan national team instead of France, noting that the player made his choice individually in recent days, preferring his Moroccan origins and his parents’ country over other offers.
This decision marks an important turning point in Ayoub Bouaddi’s career and confirms the strong bonds the player has with his homeland.
The French newspaper clarified that the Moroccan Football Federation completed the administrative procedures related to changing the player’s sporting nationality last Thursday, at a time when communications and follow-up from the French side were ongoing to persuade him to reconsider his decision.
On the French side, coach Didier Deschamps did not show direct interest in convincing the player, considering that competition in the midfield of the French national team is very strong and leaves little room to guarantee a starting position for Bouaddi in the current lineup.
“L’Équipe” also discussed the upcoming phase, mentioning that the name of French coach Zinedine Zidane was raised in the case, with an indication of a possible indirect contact to know the player’s stance, although there is no official confirmation of this so far.
This step reflects the keen interest of football circles in the player Ayoub Bouaddi. The newspaper added that Bouaddi’s choice was heavily linked to the attractiveness of the ambitious Moroccan national team’s sports project, especially with the approaching 2026 World Cup, Morocco co-hosting part of the 2030 World Cup, and the noticeable development in Moroccan football in attracting and training dual-nationality players, which creates an ideal environment for Ayoub Bouaddi to grow and shine on the international stage.
