Barcelona secured a broad and well-deserved victory over their host Galatasaray of Turkey with a score of four goals to one, in the second round of the UEFA Champions League matches on Tuesday evening. Despite conceding an early goal, the Catalan club showed strong character and offensive efficiency to turn the tide against the Turkish team.
The start of the match witnessed missed chances for Barcelona stars such as Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Ferrmin Lopez, and Antony Gordon, before the Turkish side surprised their opponent with a goal against the flow of play. The Turkish goal came in the 28th minute by Alexei Patrakov who received a swift cross pass from Rafael Leao and shot directly into goalkeeper Juan Garcia’s net. Although Gerard Martin scored an own goal six minutes later, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology disallowed the goal due to offside on Galatasaray’s Paris Yilmaz, preventing the Turkish team from doubling their lead.
Barcelona did not give up and managed to equalize two minutes before halftime, with Joao Cancelo scoring a brilliant goal in the 43rd minute with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area after an assist from Dani Olmo. At the start of the second half, the Catalan club continued their offensive pressure and took the lead through Ferrmin Lopez in the 50th minute, who received a precise cross from Lamine Yamal and netted it. Yamal did not stop there but also created the third goal for his teammate Antony Gordon in the 53rd minute.
