French media reports revealed that the season of the international defender Nayef Akkard with Olympique Marseille has ended prematurely, following the worsening of his injury, raising concerns about his readiness for upcoming commitments with the national team.
The same sources confirmed that Akkard’s return to training, which was scheduled for the end of this month, has been postponed to the beginning of next May, due to the need for an additional period of medical rehabilitation.
In the same context, the medical team of the national team continues to monitor the player’s health status developments, in direct coordination with the medical staff of the French club, where positive indicators regarding his gradual return had been previously reported.
Akkard underwent surgery last March to treat chronic pain in the groin and lower abdomen area, before his health condition worsened after the operation, forcing him to stay away from the fields for a longer period than expected.
These developments present a new challenge for the technical staff of the national team, given the player’s importance within the defensive system and the proximity of the 2026 World Cup finals, which are expected to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
