Jordan’s Final Squad for the 2026 World Cup: Al-Nashama Towards the Global Stage

The head coach of the Jordanian national team, Moroccan Jamal Salami, today announced Jordan’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The announcement of the 26-player squad came with no significant surprises, as the technical staff settled on the names that will represent Al-Nashama in their historic first participation in the global tournament.

The recent changes included the exclusion of both Mohammed Abu Ghosh and Youssef Qashi from the lineup, following a friendly loss against Switzerland by four goals to one last Sunday.

The Jordanian team is heavily relying on the talent of winger Mousa Al-Tamari, a professional at French club Rennes, to lead the team’s attack. However, Al-Nashama will miss the services of their prominent striker Yazan Al-Naimat, who suffered a severe knee injury that will keep him out of this major football event.

Al-Nashama team arrived in San Diego, USA last Tuesday, where they are holding a crucial training camp until June 10, including an important friendly match against Colombia next Monday at Snapdragon Stadium as part of the final preparations before the tournament begins. The Jordanian delegation seeks to maximize the benefit of this camp to ensure the players’ physical and technical readiness.

Jordan will start their journey in the 2026 World Cup by facing Austria on June 17 in San Francisco, as part of Group 10. They will then meet Algeria on the same stadium on June 23, before concluding their group matches against the defending champions, Argentina, on June 28 in Dallas. These matches pose a great challenge for coach Salami’s squad to prove their ability to compete globally.

Jordan’s World Cup squad includes: Yazid Abu Layla, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri, and Nour Bani Atiya as goalkeepers. In defense: Abdullah Naseeb, Saad Al-Rousan, Yazan Al-Arab, Saleem Obeid, Mohammed Abu Al-Nadi, Hussam Abu Al-Dhahab, Ihsan Haddad, and Anas Bani Yaseen. Midfielders: Muhannad Abu Taha, Mohammed Abu Hashish, Nour Al-Rawaba, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Ibrahim Saada, Rajai Ayed, Amer Jamous, and Mohammed Al-Dawood. For attack: Mahmoud Al-Mardi, Ouda Al-Fakhouri, Mousa Al-Tamari, Mohammed Abu Zreiq, Ali Azayzah, Ibrahim Sabra, and Ali Alwan.
