El Kajoui: Reaching AFCON Semifinals Is Just a Step Towards the Title

Munir El Kajoui emphasized that reaching the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals was no easy feat, and that the Moroccan national team had waited a long time to return to this stage, making the responsibility greater than ever before. He added that preparations for the match against Nigeria are being conducted with intense focus, both physically and mentally, as the clear objective for everyone is to clinch the continental title.

The Moroccan goalkeeper explained that his extensive experience in African competitions gives him a special sense of duty towards the squad. He constantly strives to support his teammates and impart his accumulated knowledge, especially since he has participated in five editions of the Africa Cup of Nations without previously reaching the semifinals.

El Kajoui noted that those previous participations were not without mistakes that cost the national team significantly. Therefore, he is keen today to remind the players of past occurrences to prevent their repetition, stressing that learning from difficult experiences is the only path to development.

He emphasized that the team’s strength lies in its unity, and that no player is more important than another, as everyone works towards a single goal. He concluded by asserting that reaching the semifinals is an important achievement, but it remains a single step on a longer journey. The true dream, he stated, is to lift the Africa Cup of Nations, not merely to settle for reaching advanced stages.
