The management of Wydad Athletic Club, led by President Ibrahim Al-Asri, settled today the issue of Paulo Sergio’s future with Wydad. The Portuguese coach is facing increasing pressure after the team’s surprising defeat against Widad Temara, with a score of three goals to one, at the start of the team’s journey in the professional “Inwi” league.
Despite the public anger and division within the club’s components, Wydad’s administration chose not to rush the decision to dismiss the coach after just one round of the season. The management preferred to give Paulo Sergio an additional opportunity to prove his ability to correct the situation and prepare the team optimally.
The upcoming match against Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi will be a decisive test for the Portuguese coach. This match will not only determine Paulo Sergio’s fate with Wydad but will be the final verdict either to continue leading the technical management or to terminate his contract immediately.
These developments come amid the weak performance presented by the red team and the harsh defeat it suffered, which sparked a strong wave of discontent among Wydad fans, demanding radical changes to restore the team to the path of victories and honor its rich history.
