Today, Wydad Athletic Club approved the transfer of its striker Suleiman Mwalimu to the Tanzanian team Simba in the current summer transfer window, in a deal worth 350 million centimes. This transfer came after intensive negotiations during which the Tanzanian club had to raise its financial offer, which initially started at 200 million centimes, something Wydad initially rejected.
Wydad Athletic Club is scheduled to receive the first installment of the deal amounting to 200 million centimes upon signing the contract tomorrow, Monday, while the remaining payment of 150 million centimes will be received next March. Press reports confirm that this step is part of the two clubs’ strategy to strengthen their squads before the start of the new competitions.
Wydad’s gains were not limited to the basic value of the deal but also included a clause that guarantees the Moroccan club 15% of the value of any future transfer of Suleiman Mwalimu before the end of his four-season contract with Simba Tanzanian. This clause reflects an administrative vision aimed at maximizing benefits from promising players.
Suleiman Mwalimu spent last season on loan at Simba club, from which Wydad benefited 50 million centimes from the loan. Although the loan renewal was announced last July, Wydad changed its decision to insist on selling the player permanently. This necessitated the player’s return to Casablanca to persuade Wydad officials to ease the procedures for Suleiman Mwalimu’s full transfer to the Tanzanian team, which was successfully completed in this deal valued at 350 million centimes.
