Ancelotti confirmed in his post-match statements the difficulty in determining the extent of Wesley’s injury or the possible duration of his absence before conducting the necessary medical examinations.
The Italian coach pointed out that the team is awaiting the results of the examinations that the player will undergo upon the team’s return to New Jersey, stressing that the final decision regarding his participation in the World Cup will depend on the medical report.
Despite Wesley’s importance in the team lineup, Ancelotti expressed confidence in the ability of the substitute players to fill the potential gap.
He explained that the duo Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães are gradually returning to full fitness after participating in the UEFA Champions League final, and also mentioned the possibility of relying on Danilo and Ibanez in the right-back position due to their experience and previous performances in this role.
