National coach Mohamed Wahbi today announced the list of the Moroccan national team participating in the first and second rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals. The Moroccan team will face the teams of Gabon and Lesotho in two decisive matches to start their journey towards the Africa Cup of Nations.
The final list revealed by Wahbi included many prominent names in goalkeeping and defense. In goal, Yassine Bounou, Munir Mohamedi, Reda Tagnaouti, and Alaa Belaroush are present. The defense line features a selection of defenders including Issa Diop, Nayef Aguerd, Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, Anas Salah Eddine, Noussair Mazraoui, Ali Maamar, Marwan Saadan, Redouane Halhal, Achraf Hakimi, and Zakaria El Wahdi.
The Moroccan national team list also included distinguished names in midfield and attack. In midfield, Ayoub El Kaabi, Samir Al Morabit, Nael Al Ainawi, Oussama Targal, Bilal Khannous, Soufiane Fawzi, Azeddine Ounahi, and Ismail Sbari stand out. In the attack line are Abdel Samad Al Zalzouli, Abdallah Ouzan, Ibrahim Diaz, Yassine Jassim, Yasser Zubairi, Soufiane Rahimi, and Tofiq Ben Tayeb, reflecting a diverse offensive strength.
The Atlas Lions are preparing to face Gabon on Friday, September 25, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the capital Rabat, in the first qualifying match. Then, the Moroccan team will head to face Lesotho on September 29 in the city of Bloemfontein, South Africa, in another challenge aiming to secure as many points as possible early in the qualification journey.
