Mohamed Wahbi, the coach of the Moroccan national team, confirmed the significant challenges his team faced in their first match in the World Cup group stage against Brazil, noting that the match conditions were extremely complex.
The Moroccan national team drew 1-1 against the former world champions, in a match where the Atlas Lions aimed to achieve a win and take all the points.
Wahbi revealed in press statements after the game that the technical and tactical preparation for the match was at the highest level, but engaging directly with a coach of Carlo Ancelotti’s caliber was by no means easy.
The coach explained that the desire to win was overwhelming among the players and the technical staff, and everyone felt disappointed at not securing the deserved victory, despite the good performance and fighting spirit shown by the Moroccan national team stars.
According to Wahbi, one of the main factors affecting the players’ performance was the high temperatures on the pitch, which depleted the energy of many players. He also pointed out that some players participating in their first World Cup matches added a psychological and additional burden, which requires addressing certain aspects and developing them before upcoming matches.
The Moroccan coach affirmed the necessity of benefiting from this draw and working seriously to avoid mistakes and seek new tactical solutions to face the anticipated match against Scotland.
Wahbi highlighted his good knowledge of the opponent’s abilities, which calls for special preparation and proposing alternative plans to ensure achieving a positive result in the second round of the global tournament.
