Moroccan international player Sofiane Boufal officially announced his departure from the French club Le Havre after a brief but decisive period in the team’s journey.
Boufal joined Le Havre during the last winter transfer window on a free transfer, coming from the Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise. His primary goal was to help the team avoid relegation from the French league, a target he successfully achieved with distinction. During the 17 matches Boufal played wearing Le Havre’s jersey, he demonstrated remarkable technical levels, scoring one goal and providing four assists. He played a pivotal role in the crucial match against Lorient, which secured the team’s stay in the top division.
Sofiane Boufal sent an emotional farewell message to Le Havre fans via his official Instagram account on Wednesday, expressing his deep gratitude for their continuous support. Boufal wrote in his message: “Dear Le Havre fans, after the end of the season, I want to thank you for the six months we spent together. It was a great honor and pride for me to wear the club’s jersey.” He added: “I really enjoyed playing at the Stade Océane in front of you, and also in all the stadiums you traveled to support us. Your support and loyalty were important throughout this adventure.” He concluded his message saying: “I also thank all club members, the technical staff, my fellow players, and the sports management for the trust and the moments we shared together. The stay was achieved… and the mission accomplished.”
