The corridors of Raja Club Athletic witnessed notable movements today, as the sports director asked several players, including Jordanian star Mohammad Sharara, to look for new clubs to transfer to, in a move aimed at terminating their contracts with the green team. This decision comes amid the administration’s desire to restructure the team and refresh its lineup ahead of the new football season.
According to press reports, the sports director informed Mohammad Sharara of this unexpected decision, raising questions about the reasons, especially since the player had performed well in the matches he participated in since joining Raja during the last winter transfer window. Interestingly, this request comes from the administration itself, while some believe it is the administration’s duty to seek offers for players they want to release to facilitate contract terminations.
The matter was not limited to Sharara only but also included players Sakho and Matias, the team’s forwards, as part of the administration’s efforts to release their services. The sports director faces a significant challenge in this regard, as he has not yet succeeded in terminating any player’s contract from the transfer list, while the team has only signed two new players so far: Samsh Eddine Qandeel, the left-back from Makkasa Club, and Issaak Al-Zaydani, a midfielder from Nahdet Zemamra, while awaiting finalizing other deals.
Meanwhile, Raja Club Athletic refused to renew the contracts of several players at the end of the last season, and placed other players, including Sharara, Banoun, Al-Maamouri, Matias, Sakho, and Khafi, on the transfer list. The club’s management must negotiate with these players to mutually terminate their contracts to avoid them resorting to the Disputes Committee to claim their full financial dues, which could impose additional financial burdens on the club’s treasury. Through these measures, Raja aims to build a team capable of strong competition in upcoming challenges.
