National coach Rachid Taoussi has entered serious negotiations with the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to take charge of the senior national team, the “Lone Stars,” for upcoming continental competitions, according to African media reports released this Saturday.
Sources confirm that the Liberian association officials have placed the Moroccan coach’s name among the top proposed candidates, due to his extensive experience in African football arenas, in addition to holding the “CAF Pro License,” which aligns with the ambitious sports project the association aims to implement in the coming years.
This step comes as part of the Liberian Football Association’s efforts to enhance their national team’s capabilities following the re-election of Mustafa Raji as association president for a third term extending until 2030.
Initial contacts have begun between both parties to discuss financial aspects and sports objectives, paving the way for a possible official agreement appointing Rachid Taoussi as the Liberia national team coach for the qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
Hiring a new coach for the senior national team is one of the top priorities for the Liberian Football Association in the upcoming phase, aspiring to achieve better results on both continental and international levels.
It is noted that Rachid Taoussi is currently without a team since leaving Kawkab Marrakech at the beginning of this season. He has accumulated numerous experiences inside and outside Morocco, including coaching the Moroccan national team, clubs such as Raja Casablanca, FAR Rabat, and Maghreb de Fès, along with other African and Arab coaching stints, making him the most prominent candidate to lead Liberia’s national team in the coming period.
