South African press reports have revealed that Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and owner of the Mamelodi Sundowns club, has allocated a historic financial bonus of 200 million centimes to each player if the team wins the CAF Champions League title against the Royal Army Club.
This exceptional reward comes to motivate the players to give their best in the two final matches scheduled for May 15 and 24.
Motsepe is expected to distribute a total of 5 billion centimes to the players if the African title is won, meaning each player will receive no less than 200 million centimes.
This bonus is considered very large compared to the bonuses offered by other African clubs, reflecting the great importance Motsepe places on this continental title.
It is noteworthy that Patrice Motsepe’s company manages the affairs of the Mamelodi Sundowns club, and he appointed his son, Tloupe, as chairman of the club’s board to avoid any conflict of interest or overlapping responsibilities, especially after assuming the presidency of CAF. Sundowns fans hope these significant incentives will contribute to achieving the dream of winning the Champions League title and delighting the supporters.
