The Morocco under-17 national team secured their place in the semi-finals of the African Youth Cup after defeating their Cameroonian counterparts 1-0 in the quarter-final match played this Sunday evening at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. The “Atlas Cubs” continue their successful journey in defending their continental title.
The only goal of the match came early, specifically in the 17th minute, through player Mohamed Habib Zainabi, who capitalized on a precise pass from his teammate Ilian Hadidi and placed the ball into the net, giving the Morocco under-17 team a valuable advantage that they maintained until the final whistle.
The task was not easy against a strong and tough Cameroonian opponent, who created several scoring opportunities. However, the alertness of the Moroccan goalkeeper and the solidity of the defensive line prevented the score from being equalized, allowing the national team to keep their lead and secure a ticket to the semi-finals.
The “Atlas Cubs” had started their campaign in the tournament with a draw against Tunisia, 1-1, before increasing their pace in the second round by achieving an important victory over Ethiopia with a score of 2-1, which gave the national players a morale boost and additional confidence to continue competing.
The Morocco under-17 team continued their positive results in the group stage by overcoming Egypt with the same result (2-1), finishing the first round at the top of Group A with seven points, confirming their strong ambition to go far in the competition.
The national team hopes to continue their streak of positive results in the upcoming rounds, aiming to retain their continental title, given the good performances delivered by the “Atlas Cubs” since the start of the tournament.
The Morocco under-17 team also aspires to crown their excellent performance with the title, affirming their readiness to compete strongly until the very end.
