The latest ranking from the International Federation of Association Football “FIFA,” issued today Wednesday, revealed a drop for Morocco in the global rankings, now occupying the seventh position worldwide. This drop came after previously holding the sixth position in the ranking dated July 20, despite an increase in their points tally to 1805.34 points compared to 1803.99 points previously.
Despite losing one spot globally, the Moroccan national team managed to maintain its lead among African and Arab teams. Both Portugal and Brazil benefited from their recent results to surpass the “Atlas Lions,” with Portugal rising to fifth place with 1807.69 points and Brazil moving up to sixth with 1806.51 points. The gap between Morocco and Brazil is now only 1.17 points, and 2.35 points with Portugal.
Morocco’s position on the continental level remained unchanged, as it stayed first in Africa by a significant margin ahead of Senegal, which ranks 18th globally. Other African rankings also saw some changes, with Egypt in 25th place globally, Algeria in 28th, Ivory Coast in 29th, while Nigeria dropped to 30th.
In the Arab region, Morocco continued to lead the rankings, ahead of Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. This drop in Morocco’s global ranking reflects its continued dominance at both the African and Arab levels, despite losing one position worldwide, making it one of the top teams on the international stage.
