Kopido, a South African player from Mamelodi Sundowns, stated that the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Royal Army was not as difficult as some expected, noting that his team made things harder for themselves at times.
Kopido emphasized the importance of unity and playing as one team to achieve a positive result in the decisive return match in Rabat.
He added in media statements that Sundowns created many good chances to secure the match further but expressed his happiness with the 1-0 victory and keeping a clean sheet, which is considered a good result ahead of the return leg.
The player pointed out that his team is well aware of Royal Army’s strength when playing at home with their fans, confirming that the atmosphere will be tougher in Morocco.
Kopido explained that Sundowns’ technical staff studied Royal Army’s strengths, especially in crosses and set pieces, and the players succeeded in limiting the opponent’s danger in the first leg.
However, Kopido stressed that the return match will be completely different, and the team needs focus and unity to face the challenges posed by the Moroccan atmosphere and fans.
The return leg of the CAF Champions League final is scheduled for next Sunday, May 19, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM at the “Prince Moulay Abdullah” Stadium in the capital, Rabat, where both teams strive to clinch the prestigious continental title.
