The transfer of the young Moroccan defender Ismail Baouf to the Spanish club Rayo Vallecano failed after the negotiations between the Spanish club and its Dutch counterpart Cambuur broke down.
Despite the great interest shown by Rayo Vallecano in signing the player during the current summer transfer window, both parties were unable to reach a final agreement on the deal’s details, leading to its collapse at the last moment.
Press reports revealed that the Spanish club was closely monitoring the 19-year-old Ismail Baouf, keen to include him in its sporting project for the upcoming season.
This interest came as a result of Baouf’s impressive performance with Cambuur, after joining them in the summer of 2025 from the reserve team of the Belgian club Anderlecht.
During the 2025-2026 season, the Moroccan defender played 30 matches across various competitions, including 29 in the Dutch league. Despite playing as a center-back, he managed to score six goals and provide one assist, confirming his notable attacking abilities.
Baouf also became one of the key pillars in Cambuur’s lineup, having played a total of 2,669 minutes, which attracted the attention of several major European clubs.
Internationally, Baouf represented Belgian youth teams before choosing to represent the Moroccan national team, playing with the under-20 squad.
On May 26, 2026, he made his first appearance with the senior national team. Despite the failure of Ismail Baouf’s transfer to Rayo Vallecano, the player remains under the watchful eyes of many other European clubs, keeping the door open for a possible move to a new destination before the end of the current summer transfer window.
