The goalkeepers of the Moroccan national team, Yassine Bono and Ahmed Reda Taknaouti, are preparing to embark on new competitions in the World Cup, recalling the football epic authored by the “Atlas Lions” in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals as the first African team to achieve this historic feat. This rich experience will undoubtedly be a strong impetus toward delivering a distinguished performance in the upcoming edition, amid widespread hopes and ambitions among fans.

Bono revealed in a press statement that the Moroccan elite still abounds with talents and players who contributed to its remarkable success four years ago.

He pointed out that enthusiasm and ambition fuel an inexhaustible energy within the team corridors, emphasizing that participating in the World Cup is a dream that every player harbors.

He added that the tournament will serve as the last opportunity for some veterans, while new stars will emerge experiencing this atmosphere for the first time, adding an extra dimension of challenge and determination.

In a related context, the Moroccan national team will start its journey in the 2026 World Cup with a tough match against Brazil in Group C, before meeting Scotland and Haiti in matches that promise much excitement and competitiveness.

Despite the growing confidence gained by the “Atlas Lions” thanks to the excellent performances they have recently shown, Bono called for being realistic, noting the presence of other teams with better chances to win the title. He confirmed that the main goal is to continue the development journey that started from the Qatar World Cup, stressing that all possibilities are open for the team.

On his part, Reda Taknaouti recalled the unique atmosphere that surrounded the team during the 2022 World Cup, praising the complete harmony among the players since their arrival in Qatar.

He explained that the strong bonds among the delegation members, along with the unlimited support from families and friends, played a decisive role in achieving that exceptional achievement.

Both Bono and Taknaouti emphasized that team spirit and unity were the keys to success in that tournament, affirming that everyone was striving toward one goal: to write a new honorable chapter in the history of Moroccan and African football.
