Al-Hussein Rahimi, the Moroccan star of the Emirati club Al Ain, shined today as he led his team to a crushing victory against the Iraqi host Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, winning four goals to one, within the competitions of the second round of the AFC Champions League Elite. This big win strengthens Al Ain’s lead in their group, confirming their continental ambitions this season.
The match witnessed clear dominance by the Emirati team, with Alejandro Romero “Kaku” opening the scoring early in the 13th minute, followed by Saad Al-Rousan’s own goal for Al Ain in the 18th minute. Afterwards, the Moroccan brothers Al-Hussein and Sofiane Rahimi strongly imposed their presence, with Al-Hussein scoring the third and fourth goals for Al Ain in the 23rd and 43rd minutes, respectively, confirming his team’s superiority before the end of the first half.
Although Sofiane Rahimi scored a goal in the 50th minute, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology disallowed it due to offside, keeping the score unchanged. Al-Hussein Rahimi showed an outstanding level, directly contributing to this valuable victory that places Al Ain in a strong position within their group.
With this win, Al Ain raised their points to six, flying solo at the top of the West Group standings, after starting their journey with a big win over Saudi Al Nassr by four goals to nil. On the other hand, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya remained in sixth and last place with no points, after suffering their second consecutive defeat. Al Ain is preparing to face Iran’s Tractor in the third round on October 26, while Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya will host Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor.
