Al Ahly achieved a significant and well-deserved victory over their traditional rival Zamalek with a 3-0 win today, in the fifth round of the crowning stage of the Egyptian Premier League.
This victory strengthened Al Ahly’s position in the Egyptian competition and repeated the scenario from the first round.
Moroccan player Ashraf Bencharki opened the scoring for Al Ahly in the 18th minute, putting his team ahead.
Hussein El Shahat extended Al Ahly’s lead with the second goal in the 32nd minute, before Bencharki returned to finish the goal festival by scoring the third goal in the 74th minute, confirming Al Ahly’s complete control over the match.
With this result, Al Ahly raised their total to 47 points, occupying third place in the standings.
On the other hand, Zamalek’s points stopped at 50, tying for first place in the standings with Pyramids FC, but Zamalek leads on the head-to-head record between them in an exciting title race.
