The Egyptian club Al Ahly has entered advanced negotiations to sign the Moroccan striker Sofiane Benjdida, the top scorer of the Morocco Fassi team, during the upcoming summer transfer window, in a step that reflects Al Ahly’s desire to strengthen its squad with distinguished players.
Sofiane Benjdida has become one of the most prominent names excelling in the professional league this season, making him a primary target for the giants of African football.
According to media data, Al Ahly made an initial offer worth $1.5 million to sign the player, but the management of Morocco Fassi demanded an amount reaching $3 million to release their star player.
In an effort to bridge the views, a Moroccan agent known for his strong relations with the Egyptian club officials joined the negotiations, proposing to raise the offer to 2 million dollars in an attempt to convince Morocco Fassi’s management to accept the deal and expedite its completion.
Al Ahly’s interest in Sofiane Benjdida comes after the exceptional season the player is having with his Fassi team, where he managed to score 15 goals and provide 2 assists in only 17 matches in the professional league, thus topping the list of goal scorers in the Moroccan league.
The player attracted attention not only with his scoring numbers but also with his great effectiveness inside the penalty area, smart attacking movements, and ability to exploit half-chances—traits that made Al Ahly consider him an ideal option to strengthen its attacking line before upcoming football commitments, whether in the CAF Champions League or the Club World Cup.
It is noteworthy that the current market value of the Moroccan striker is about 500 thousand euros, after previously reaching 800 thousand euros during his professional period in the Belgian league.
