The negotiation process for renewing Al-Assal’s contract with Nahdat Berkane suddenly stopped due to differing views between the two parties about the signing bonus for the second year of the contract. Defender Abdelhaq Al-Assal insists on receiving the signing bonus, while the club officials reject this and insist on linking the bonus to performance and productivity, which has led to a halt and complete stop in the talks.
Press reports indicate that Nahdat Berkane’s management may give up on renewing Al-Assal’s contract, especially as the club is close to reclaiming its former players Youssoufa Diaw and Adel Tahif, which could reduce the urgent need to keep Al-Assal in the team. This development puts the defender’s future at risk and opens the door for the possibility of his departure from the Berkane club.
Earlier, Abdelhaq Al-Assal was a strong candidate to join Raja Club Athletic, following the announcement of Badr Banoun’s departure from the green team during the current summer transfer window. However, Banoun is still training regularly with Raja, despite the club’s sports director informing him of the club’s wish to let him go, which complicates Al-Assal’s position further in seeking a new club.
Meanwhile, coach Naby, the head coach of Raja Club Athletic, insists on keeping player Badr Banoun in his squad, especially after the departure of player Abdallah Khafifi and since no new defender has been signed so far. This stance may lead Raja to reconsider the idea of signing Al-Assal, forcing him to look for other options to strengthen the defense line in the upcoming period, making the renewal of Al-Assal’s contract with Berkane more difficult.
