The Moroccan national team’s 1-1 draw against Norway in the last friendly test before the start of the World Cup has raised questions about the readiness of the Atlas Lions.
In this context, national team player Ayoub Bouaidi confirmed that the true measure of Morocco’s readiness for the World Cup will become clear in the opening match against the Brazilian team in the much-anticipated group stage competition.
Bouaidi did not hide the difficulty of declaring full readiness of the team at the present time. In statements to the press after the match, he pointed out that the game against Norway, which he described as a good team with distinguished players, was an important milestone for evaluating performance. The player considered the draw result against such a strong team positive, as the team showed promising technical and physical glimpses, stressing the need to translate these positives into World Cup matches.
Bouaidi also touched upon the pivotal role of the Moroccan fans, who spared no effort in supporting the national team, filling the stands with red color, which gave the players a feeling as if they were playing on their home ground. He praised this great support that injects more energy and enthusiasm into the players to give their best on the field.
Bouaidi concluded his statements by confirming that the final judgment on the level of readiness will only come after the heavyweight match against Brazil. The first match will reveal the team’s true level of preparedness.
Despite these reservations, the player emphasized that the work had been intensive and serious, and that all players would exert their utmost efforts to deliver an honorable performance in the tournament.
