In a comprehensive interview with the French magazine “Onze Mondial,” Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, opened his heart discussing the development trajectory of Moroccan football over the past decade, and the radical transformations witnessed at the level of training, results, and international positioning.

Lekjaa explained that the starting point was not limited to 2014 when he began his presidency of the federation, but dates back even earlier within a comprehensive development model led by His Majesty the King, where youth holds a pivotal role as a fundamental lever for development.

The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed that football is an integral part of this ambitious national project, noting that sports, especially football, were part of a clear roadmap focusing on professionalism, governance, and infrastructure development, which was the main support for advancing Moroccan football.

Lekjaa emphasized that the main challenge was both educational and developmental simultaneously, targeting Moroccan youth through integrated programs such as “study-sport,” which enable thousands of boys and girls to practice football while continuing their studies.

He considered that the Mohammed VI Football Academy was the true starting point of the transformation, and that the Qatar World Cup came to confirm that the path is right and that Morocco is capable of competing at the highest levels.

For this reason, Fouzi Lekjaa’s goal in developing Moroccan football has become to win major titles, not just to participate.
