Former Moroccan international Youssef Chibo confirmed in media statements that the Moroccan national team has the capability to repeat the achievement of the 2022 World Cup in the upcoming edition hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Chibo explained that the “Lions” are capable of going far in the next World Cup, especially with the participation of 48 teams, noting that all competing teams will prepare well to face the world’s fourth-ranked team.
Regarding the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, Youssef Chibo described the national team’s group as balanced.
He emphasized that the chances are equal for all groups despite the advantage held by the well-known traditional teams, given the significant development African football has witnessed, which has made previously obscure teams capable of causing surprises and difficulties.
The “Lions” group in the African qualifiers includes Gabon, Niger, and Lesotho.
Meanwhile, the World Cup draw placed them in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
On another note, Chibo strongly denied the allegations linking him to defending player Hakim Ziyech following Neymar’s call-up to the Brazilian national team.
He confirmed that everything attributed to him in this regard is nothing but completely unfounded rumors, and that he does not interfere at all in the national coach’s selections, stressing that his focus is on analyzing the performance of Youssef Chibo and the national team in general.
