Imran Talai and his teammates in the Morocco national under-17 team qualified for the second round of the Africa Under-17 Cup as leaders of Group A, following their victory this evening over the Egyptian team by two goals to one.
The decisive match took place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex and witnessed an outstanding performance by the “Lions Cubs,” who proved their worth in the tournament.
The first half started cautiously from both sides, with each of the Moroccan and Egyptian teams striving to score the opening goal.
In the 18th minute, Mohamed Amin Moustache successfully broke through the Egyptian defense, scoring the first goal for Morocco after a precise pass from Ibrahim Al-Ribaj, giving the “Lions Cubs” the advantage over the “Pharaohs.”
Just before the end of the first half, precisely in the 45+2 minute, Imran Talai extended the score for the Morocco under-17 team, ending the first half with a Moroccan lead of two goals to none.
The second half saw intense pressure from the Egyptian team aiming to reduce the deficit and get back into the game, which was achieved in the 49th minute by player Ziad Saudi.
The Moroccan team managed to finish the match with a valuable win that secured them the top spot in Group A with 7 points.
The Egyptian team ranked second with 4 points, ahead of the Ethiopian team, which came third with the same points, while Tunisia topped the bottom of the rankings with just one point.
The Moroccan team is scheduled to face Cameroon in the quarterfinals, which ranked second in Group B behind group leader Ivory Coast.
