The Morocco Under-17 national team began their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-1 draw against their Tunisian counterparts in the match held yesterday, Wednesday, at Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, as part of the first round of Group One.
The match witnessed strong competitiveness between the “Atlas Cubs” and the “Carthage Eagles,” amid a crowd supporting the national team at the start of the championship held in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The match began with a relative dominance from the Tunisian team, who managed to open the scoring through player Yahya Jelidi in the 28th minute of the first half, taking advantage of one of the few attacking opportunities. This goal gave the “Carthage Eagles” the lead before the end of the first half, putting the Morocco Under-17 national team under pressure in search of an equalizing goal.
At the start of the second half, the Moroccan team intensified their attacking attempts, aiming to score the equalizer. This pressure resulted in a valuable goal in the 76th minute, signed by player Elian Hadidi, who made good use of an excellent assist from his teammate Ismail El Oud to bring the match back to a draw.
The final minutes saw a strong push from the “Atlas Cubs,” who pressed hard to score the winning goal. However, the lack of a final touch in front of the goal prevented them from reaching the net, and the match ended with both sides sharing the points.
After this draw, the Morocco Under-17 team and their Tunisian counterparts share the top of Group One with one point each.
It is worth noting that the group including Morocco and Tunisia also has Egypt and Ethiopia, who occupy third and fourth places with one point each and no goals, promising a strong competition in the upcoming rounds of this continental tournament.
