Véron Mosengo-Omba, the former Secretary-General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced his resignation after five years at the helm of the continental federation. He will be temporarily replaced by Nigeria’s Samson Adamu.

Mosengo-Omba, who assumed the position in 2021 after a period working at FIFA, the international football federation, confirmed that his decision to resign stems from a desire to dedicate himself to personal projects, away from the pressures of administrative work.

It is worth noting that Mosengo-Omba had previously faced financial accusations. However, the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office announced in January 2025 the cessation of investigations against him, confirming the absence of any facts or legal basis for his prosecution, thus ending any controversy surrounding his professional integrity.

The Congolese official issued a statement on social media, saying: “Now that all doubts and accusations against me have dissipated, I can retire with peace of mind and reassurance, leaving CAF in its best state and more prosperous than ever before.”
