The Moroccan women’s national team has secured its place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after successfully topping Group A.
This qualification came following a goalless draw against the Senegalese team in their match on Monday, which was part of the third and final round of the group stage.
The match witnessed few chances for both sides, with the most notable opportunity being a penalty missed by Moroccan player Yasmin Lamrabet in the 65th minute, leaving the scoreline at a stalemate until the final whistle.
The Moroccan women showed strong performances throughout the group stage, enabling them to collect the necessary points to advance.
Despite the draw in this round, the Moroccan women’s team finished the group stage at the top of Group A with seven points, ahead of the Algerian team, which came second with six points. Meanwhile, the Senegalese team placed third with four points, and the Kenyan team finished last without any points.
