The Dutch national team thrashed their Swedish counterparts with an impressive 5-1 victory in the second round of Group F in the 2026 World Cup. This significant win today placed the Netherlands at the top of the group, boosting their hopes of advancing in the global tournament hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Dutch team, known as the Orange, started the match with strength and effectiveness, with Brian Brobbey opening the scoring early in the 5th minute, then adding his and his team’s second goal in the 17th minute. This outstanding offensive performance allowed the Netherlands to comfortably dominate Sweden by five goals early in the game, disrupting the Swedish team’s plans who tried to keep up with the fast pace of the match.

In the second half, the Dutch team continued their assault on the Swedish goal, with Cody Gakpo scoring the third goal in the 47th minute, then adding a fourth only seven minutes later, confirming his team’s absolute control. Despite Anthony Elanga scoring a consolation goal for Sweden in the 59th minute, Cresencio Smervil closed the scoring fest by netting the fifth goal for the Netherlands in the 89th minute, proving the Dutch’s deserved and brilliant 5-1 win in this World Cup.

With this result, the Dutch team raised their tally to four points at the top of the group, awaiting the outcome of the other match between Japan and Tunisia, scheduled for tomorrow morning. Football fans anticipate more excitement and competitiveness in the coming rounds of the 2026 World Cup, with keen interest in the performances of the major teams and their fierce contest for the world title.
