Ben Yedder Acquitted: French Court Overturns Wydad Player’s Conviction

A significant judicial ruling was issued today acquitting Ben Yedder, the striker of Wydad Athletic Club and former French national team player, from the charge of psychological violence brought against him by his wife.

The Court of Appeal in Aix-en-Provence overturned the initial judgment that had convicted him and imposed a hefty fine.

This new development decisively ends one of the legal cases that attracted widespread attention over the past months.

The 35-year-old player, who is currently pursuing a professional career with Wydad in Morocco, had faced an initial conviction last September, resulting in an order to pay a fine of 90,000 euros.

This decision was based on a complaint filed by his wife accusing him of violent and humiliating behavior during their separation, amidst a complex divorce process.

For his part, the French striker expressed deep relief at the issued judgment, confirming through his personal accounts that justice has ultimately prevailed.

The defense team for the Wydad player argued that the nature of the facts does not fall under criminal law but rather under the jurisdiction of the family court judge.

This ruling alleviates the pressure on Ben Yedder, who recently suffered from financial disputes with his former agent.

This was not the only case that has pursued the football star’s name. A few months ago, the same court also dismissed other sexual-related accusations against him and his brother due to insufficient evidence.

This series of legal cases has associated Ben Yedder’s name more with courts than with football fields in recent years, at a time when he attempted to revive his football career after professional experiences in Turkey and Iran before settling in the Moroccan league.
