Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain player, appears today, Friday, before the Court of Appeal in Versailles regarding the rape case involving Achraf Hakimi.
This comes as part of the appeal submitted by the player against the decision to refer him to trial in a case related to rape allegations, in a legal process that is still ongoing and receiving wide attention.
The details of Achraf Hakimi’s rape case date back to February 2023, when a young French woman filed a complaint with security authorities in the Val-de-Marne area, accusing the player of sexual assault inside his home.
Following this complaint, a judicial investigation was opened that ended with an official charge against him and his placement under judicial supervision. Later, the competent authorities decided to refer him to criminal trial, causing widespread controversy in sports and legal circles.
The investigation data indicates that the complainant met Hakimi through the “Instagram” platform before moving to his home in a taxi arranged by him.
The complainant indicates that he committed non-consensual acts ending in sexual assault, confirming that she was able to leave the place after resisting him and contacting a friend who helped her get away.
On his part, the Moroccan international player maintains his innocence of all charges against him, and his defense team asserts that the case is primarily based on the complainant’s statements, while arguing that there are discrepancies in the investigation process and a lack of decisive medical or technical evidence.
Hakimi continues his sports career with Paris Saint-Germain, where he is expected to play in the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30 in Budapest.
He is also expected to be part of the Moroccan national team’s squad to start their World Cup journey against Brazil on June 13. These judicial developments add additional pressure on the player ahead of important sporting commitments.
