The bonus for the Wydad derby caused a sharp dispute between the club’s management and the players, due to the failure to honor previously agreed promises and a significant reduction in its value.
The management had promised to allocate a bonus of 150 million centimes to the players in case of winning the 140th derby, which was indeed achieved.
However, President Hicham Ait Mana reduced this bonus to 60 million centimes, adding the members’ bonus of 80 million centimes. This adjustment led to dissatisfaction among the players who felt that the promises made to them were not honored.
This dispute comes after Wydad Athletic, led by their new coach Mohamed Btcherifa, defeated their traditional rival Raja in the 20th round summit of the professional league “Inwi,” with a goal scored by player Bakasso.
This victory restored the team’s good results and announced their return to the path of victories, raising Wydad’s tally to 37 points, occupying fourth place, while Raja’s tally remained at 39 points.
Despite the good performance and important victory, it seems that the issue of the Wydad derby bonus has cast a shadow over the atmosphere inside the club.
