The member associations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unanimously approved supporting the re-election of Gianni Infantino as President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) for a new term running from 2027 to 2031.
This decision reflects continental consensus on the importance of Infantino’s continued leadership of the global football organization.
The announcement came during a meeting held by CAF President Patrice Motsepe on Wednesday in Vancouver, Canada. The meeting took place on the sidelines of FIFA’s 76th Congress and was attended by representatives from 54 African associations, underscoring the unity of the African stance.
Motsepe also emphasized in his speech the necessity of strengthening unity among African associations, affirming the importance of supporting Infantino in the upcoming phase. This support aims to continue the development of African football and enhance its presence on the global stage.
This consensus expresses the strong relationship between CAF and FIFA, opening wider horizons for joint cooperation that benefits the sport and contributes to achieving future goals for football in Africa and worldwide.
