Hicham Ait Mena, president of Wydad Athletic Club, revealed details of the selection of French coach Patrice Carteron to lead the team, confirming that the decision was not random but came after a comprehensive evaluation of several technical and experimental criteria suitable for the current stage of the club.
The speaker explained, during his appearance on a television program, that the club’s management saw Carteron as the optimal choice, considering his vast experience and good knowledge of the Moroccan football atmosphere, especially after his previous experience in the national championship, in addition to his distinguished continental record with prominent clubs in Africa.
The president of the red team pointed out that the speed of reaching an agreement with the French coach, along with the readiness of his assistant staff, played an important role in finalizing the deal, especially given the short time following elimination from the continental competition, which forced the management to move quickly to restore balance within the group.
Regarding the contract terms, Ait Mena confirmed that the commitment with Carteron extends until the end of the season, with the possibility of extension, but that remains conditional on winning the professional league title, which is the main goal the club’s components are seeking during the current phase.
